Hodog and Takku Character Development
This character design was one of our first development. We wanted the cute, sweet and huggable characters on board.
We tried experimenting with the simple design for Hodog the dog and later added the cat character called “Takku”. We liked the pencil sketchy idea and the warmth feel that it gives.
We tried experimenting the characters with the live photographed background to make it look like a live-action and an animated film.
We also tried using AI tools, such as ChatGPT image making tool, Filmora’s AI and PixVerse AI apps. It turned out good but the hand-drawn part gave more warmth than the AI.
This is a very simplified version of Hodog and Takku character design generated by ChatGPT. It shows how the character design can be made into simple shapes but still hold warmth.
We had to nail down the character model sheet, so at that time, we made the character design sheet but it was a bit adult-shaped and looked older.
Finally, we decided to make both Hodog and Takku young and aged as 10 years old. It suited the warmth to give to the right audience and added the cuteness. But we don’t want to stop at being cute, we want to add warmth, comfort and strength to those who sees it and those who needs it most.
